Dear Archie, Doris and Families;
I want you to know how sorry we are about the loss of Michael.
I met Michael at a family gathering at Baba and Dido Kucheraway’s farm. I remember his overall joyful presence. We talked for a while, and it was evident this is who he was: happy, loved life, and wanted to take it all in to be experienced to the fullest.
Thank you for allowing the funeral to be live-streamed. It was a thoughtful and well-done eulogy that captured Michael’s life beautifully. The slide show made the funeral so personal and captured the essence of Michael. Thank you for including this.
Warmest regard and deepest condolences;
Kathy Tiede

We are so, very incredibly sorry to have read about the passing of Mike Ewaskiw. Our hearts ache for all the family & friends of Mike. May God’s Strength uphold you and His Blessings guide you in the coming days, months, and years ahead.
Mike was an Assistant Baseball Coach to our son Brody; the same time he coached his son Kaiden back in 2009. I remember so clearly what a wonderful Coach Mike was. His character & personality with the boys and the entire team (including parents) was genuine, always upbeat and just pure fun. I would like to share a memory of Mike, and how baseball led to a conversation of family roots, Ukrainian culture and a couple of town names: Hilliard & Mundare. Mike instantly says to me: “Well, we must be related.” (because in a small town, it seems everyone ends up being related somehow). When I shared my maiden name of Lucyk, Coach Mike Ewaskiw was keen on finding out the possible relation of our surnames. No sooner, the phone rings. I answer and I hear Mike’s voice: “Hello Cousin!” How could you not chuckle! Mike just held that spark of magnetic personality. So, Coach Mike figured out that we are related through marriage (Sadoway-Kucheraway-Lucyk) From then on, Mike insisted we were cousins. Every time at Baseball, when Mike would see me, I would hear him say: “Hello Cousin!”. Well Cousin Mike, it is abundant and crystal clear that you have touched so many lives crossing your path. I sure hope there is much need for a Baseball Coach in Heaven, because only you could fill those shoes.
Our deepest condolences to the Ewaskiw Family. Jeff & Karen Shandro

Dear Le-Ann, Kaiden and Tattym,
We were shocked and saddened to hear the terrible news of Mike’s passing. We ran into Mike twice this summer. Once as he was volunteering at a church function and once when he was buying parts for Tattym’s vehicle which is not a surprise as he was a man of giving and a man of family. May your loving memories overcome the burden of your sorrows.

So sorry for your loss.
I worked with Mike at the Beverly Heights Community League. He was instrumental in changing Uncle Tom's cabin into a playschool building. Many hours were spent by many to complete this task. Mike was key in getting it done. He was also the President of the League at one time and I had the pleasure of working with him.

Mike joined the Construction Specifications Canada association (CSC) in 2005, and immediately made an impact within the association being the “go-to guy” for helping out on meetings, conferences and golf tournaments. In 2010 he joined the Edmonton chapter Executive Board, and he took over the reins of organizing the education sessions for the Edmonton chapter. In 2013 he joined the CSC National Board for Education as a committee member assisting in developing the courses and participating in many meetings. 2014 he started instructing two of the courses that CSC offers, and mentoring many of the students after the course was completed. Mike was an amazing, generous, thoughtful, passionate friend to many in our industry, his selflessness showed in his continued support of CSC and of the companies he represented. His honest and straightforward methods of explaining his companies products, as well as assisting students, and participating in many CSC and other industry events really did make him the person that was trusted within the Alberta marketplace.

One of my fondest memories I have of Mike is when he and Le-Ann were dating and Le-Ann and I were roommates. They had gone out for an evening, as they usually do, but this night Mike called me around 2 am. He said that he was having a party and asked for me to come over. Being 2 am and he woke me up from sleep, I told him that I would not be driving to his place at this hour. He laughed and said, "You don't understand, I'm in your garage!" I went to the garage only to find Le-Ann and Mike dancing to the polka and laughing. He saw me and grabbed me to dance with me. He spun me around and danced with me for about 1/2 hour. I then realized that Le-Ann had left us long ago as we found her asleep in her room. Mike was fun loving and his laugh was infectious. The Michaud family will sorely miss his kindness, generosity and how much he loved his people. Love you lots Mike. Until we meet again.

Le-ann,Kaiden, Tattym and all the "Ewaskiw family"
It’s with deep sadness and shock that I heard of Mikes passing, a loss that leaves a void in all our hearts. Mike,over the years became a cherished, loving, kind, sincere family member, towards me and my family.
The more I got to know him, the more I realized he was the "ultimate" Host, his genuine concern for
myself and others was evident in every action and word when you visited him and family. Mom, enjoyed being around him, as he made her feel comfortable, and looked after with his kind words and caring actions.
Though we mourn the passing of Mike, I wish our hearts are uplifted by the hope of seeing him again. Le-anne and family, please trust in God's divine plan and the grace of Jesus, who assures us of everlasting life.
As we grieve for Mike, hopefully one day we all can celebrate the cherished memories and the unbreakable bond that he brought us over the years.
Thoughts, prayers and my continued love for you all during this difficult time,
Stay strong!! Hope he is tossing horse shoes in Heaven with family!!!

Dear Le-Ann and family,
I will remember cousin Mike so fondly and now cherish the last time we saw each other in February of 2023 at your house for dinner. We spent many family visits together when I was young. What I will remember the most about Mike was his laugh, smile and playful way.
He loved you beyond words Le-Ann, and was such a dedicated husband and father.
Although I can't be there in person with you all to celebrate his life, I am holding you all in my heart from afar.
Much love,
Barb

Q: What 3 words best describe Michael and why?
A: Neighbourly, helpful and caring this is how I will remember Mike, our neighbour for 16 years. Mike was the best neighbour. He was often outside tending to his property and having conversations with people passing by. His chats, friendly waves and helping hand made our block a great place to live. Mike would give little jobs to neighbourhood kids and they would be beaming about the coins he would put in their pocket. He understood that it takes a village to raise a child. He didn’t just shovel or snow blow his own sidewalks, he helped at least 5 neighbours. His own lawn was immaculate and you could almost eat off his garage floor! Our neighbourhood will not be the same without Mike. Our sincere condolences to his lovely family. Chris, Tammy, Ethan & Maggie Greidanus

I had the pleasure if talking to Mike just after he left Stoncor and offered the services of a headhunter I recently used. He was upbeat and positive about his future and open to explore any new employment opportunities. He had a great love of life and was extremely gratified with his current lot in life. He was proud of his kids and happy with his married life. I met Mike while coaching his Son Kaiden. He was always polite and courteous with me and that was very much appreciated.
