We were very saddened to hear of Fr. John’s passing. He will always have a special place in our hearts as he married us over 56 years ago! Newly ordained he already had a reputation for being smart, logical and deeply spiritual. He was patient and kind as he prepared us for marriage.

I've known Fr. John for 57 years. When we were just in high school my best girlfriend and I met Fr. John at a mass he led in St. Joseph's Cathedral. In those first few years we'd meet him occasionally for religious 'discussions' to learn more about the Catholic faith [we were Protestants, oh my :-)]. Over the years I kept in touch with him while he was in Peru and I was in a Bible college in Sask. I moved away from Edmt. but we continued to share correspondence throughout these many years, mostly at Christmas. I deeply respected Fr. John's energetic faith and his commitment to sharing the Gospel of Christ to several of his congregations. I was sorry to hear of his recent illness, but know he is with the Lord he loved and served so faithfully all these years. He truly was a devoted servant of Christ, something we shared in our always long-distance friendship. May his family be comforted by the Holy Spirit and look forward to being with John again in that heavenly home prepared by Christ for those who have received Him as their Lord and Saviour. I shall pray for your peace. God bless. ~ Carolyn Corbett
