I was deeply saddened to hear of this great lady’s passing. Growing up in the Lavoy area in the time when “it took a village to raise a child”, Mrs. Smiley was involved in every aspect of the community and, as such, played an integral part in the raising of many children. She personified grace, elegance and charm and she treated young and old with dignity and respect. She was never without a smile or a kind word and I will always remember with her with great admiration and fondness. My deepest sympathy to the Smiley Family.
