DUBYK, Gus
April 6, 1939 – January 13, 2024
It is with sadness the family announces that Augustine Edward (Gus) Dubyk (formerly from Mundare, Alberta) passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024 at Trillium Health Partners Mississauga Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario at the age of 84 years with loved ones at his side.
“Gus” was the beloved husband of Victoria; a loving father to Eugene (Katie) and a wonderful grandfather to Margarita and Vladimir. He will be sadly missed by his brothers Jerry (Mary Jane), and Allen (Linda); sister -in-law Jo Ann Dubyk; brother-in-law Don Chilibeck; nieces; nephews and extended family members. He is predeceased by his parents Alex and Margaret Dubyk; sister Lorraine Chilibeck and brother Myron Dubyk.
As a mechanical engineer by trade, he was very creative and adept at using his talent in problem solving; even using discarded parts and materials to repair things. Gus was extremely generous of spirit, he would share whatever he had and had a great sense of humour that was able to make people laugh, even in serious circumstances. He was always very caring and supportive of family members, especially of his grandchildren, even offering suggestions and plans for their future. Also, he will always be remembered for his kindness, caring and forgiving nature.
A private cremation service has taken place in Mississauga, and then Gus will go to Mundare, Alberta to be laid to rest with family members. Cremation has taken place. A family service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Mundare. Inurnment to follow in the Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery.
