When I think of my uncle Mike I remember the excitement I felt as a child when he arrived on the Sturmay farm dressed as Santa Claus, ringing bells with a sack full of presents and a jolly ho-ho-ho!
My respect and love for my uncle grew as I got older. He was a man who could be measured by his many achievements and depth of his love for his family. He always extended a warm welcome to my family. He had a sense of humour I remember his mom (my baba) had.
By love he will be remembered and in memory he lives on in my heart. Rest in peace dear Uncle.

Uncle Mike was like the older brother I never had. I have & cherish several memories, the funniest being when I was about 10 & spending summers on the Sturmay farm. Mike wasn’t married yet so I helped him with farm chores. He put me in a small Red Rider wagon and was pulling me around the yard. I was relaxed & enjoying the sunshine & dragging my hands on the ground. To my surprise all of sudden my hands were engulfed in very fresh cow pies. Much to Mikes pleasure he had a good laugh & then proceeded to wash my hands while trying to make me feel better. Mike in his kind, way always cared about & supported his friends & family. I will truly miss this good man & the occasional “Rumasaurus” (rum & coke) we shared.

Auntie JoAnn, Ross, Debbie and Dean my heart aches for the loss of this wonderful husband and father. He was my uncle and from a young age I have beautiful memories. How could I ever forget the excitement on Christmas Eve when he arrived dressed as Santa in a horse drawn buggy with a sack of presents, ringing jingle bells and a joyous ho-ho-ho. My respect and admiration grew for him and auntie as I got older. He was so proud of his family and many achievements. Randy, myself and our children were always welcome in their home. By love he will be remembered and in memory he lives on in our hearts.

Sturmay Family,
Sincere condolences on the passing of Mike. I worked as a summer assistant with Mike at the Ag Canada station, back in 1980, I believe. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He had a great work ethic and conveyed that to those around him. In later years, I enjoyed meeting up with Mike at various ag related events…always smiling. Cherish the memories.

To my dear friend Mike; when ever Mike introduced me to some one he said we were friends since we were going to Catechism so that's a long time ago. We worked together for many years, because Mike enjoyed life we had a lot of fun. For the passed few months when he was in the hospital, I would visit him quite often, after a great visit and I was leavening he would always say don't forget about me, my friend that, I never will, you are on my mind and prayer every day. Today the Angels are singing sweet songs because they have a new sole Mike in Heaven. Rest in peace dear Friend Rest in Peace.
