ROZKA, Phyllis
December 16, 1928 – January 31, 2024
Efrozena “Phyllis” Rozka was a beloved daughter, mother, and most importantly, Baba. She was made in Poland and born in Derwent, Alberta where her parents Longina and Frank Bober settled with her and her siblings. In her youth, she helped her mother peddle milk along through the community of Derwent. She met Metro Rozka at the age of 19 and together they built a life of their own on the farm.
She was a loving mother to her sons Marshall, Richard, Lawrence, and Don. Throughout the years, she became a proud Baba to 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Phyllis moved through the world caring for all those she met and enjoying life’s simple pleasures. She was an active member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and The Order of Royal Purple. She was an avid gardener and cook and could often be found picking berries or hilling potatoes in between dough rises.
Phyllis passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 31st at the age of 95 after leading a full life. The twinkle in her blue eyes and soft giggle will be greatly missed, but her love and memory will live on through her family. In her memory, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Vladimir in Vegreville, Alberta with Rt. Rev. Fr. Slawomir Lomaskewicz officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery.
