Obituary of Dennis Metrunec

METRUNEC, Dennis Blaine On Thursday, March 26, 2026, Dennis Blaine Metrunec of Vegreville, Alberta, formerly of Edmonton and Myrnam, passed away just short of his 70th birthday. Dennis is survived by his wife Kathryn Sear; children Natasha Rubik and Melina Cartmell; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; mother Olga Metrunec; brother Randy (Elizabeth); along with 2 nieces and many relatives and friends. Dennis was predeceased by his father John Metrunec. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Autumn Rose Funeral Home (5036-51 Ave.) in Vegreville, Alberta. Cremation to follow. A Divine Liturgy will be held at a later date on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church – Myrnam. Father Andrij Nykyforuk officiating. Inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the “Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church – Myrnam.” A special thank you to the staff of the St. Joseph’s General Hospital and the Vegreville Care Centre for their care and compassion given to Dennis.
